“Інша Освіта” працює задля розвитку громадянського суспільства в Україні. Вторгнення РФ в Україну підриває гуманістичні цінності, на які спирається організація. Наші орієнтири – відкритість, взаємна підтримка, відповідальність (за себе та інших), довіра, свобода вираження, рівність, краса, радість. Зараз все це під загрозою знищення.

Ми виступали та виступаємо за побудову взаємозв’язків та повагу до різноманіття в різних контекстах. Разом з тим, зараз ми вважаємо нелогічними та неприйнятними спроби примирити РФ та Україну в медійному та публічному просторі – на подіях, ефірах, медіа, публікаціях тощо. Агресор і жертва не можуть бути репрезентованими на однакових умовах та до певного часу навіть в одному просторі. Діалог неможливий, поки українці в небезпеці. Неможливим є також співставлення становища українців, які зазнають фізичної загрози, зі становищем громадян Білорусі та РФ, які зазнають економічного та політичного тиску. Жертвами агресії є українці та громадяни інших країн, які перебувають/перебували і/або проживають/проживали на території України на момент вторгнення. Заклики зупинити війну адресовані українцям є недоречними, адже не Україна її розпочала.

Ми не погоджуємося із тезою, що війна в Україні – відповідальність виключно путінського режиму. Опитування показують, що 71% росіян підтримує військові дії РФ в Україні¹. Звичайно, не кожен росіянин підтримує таку політику, однак жоден росіянин не може абстрагуватися від рішень, які приймає російська влада. Два десятиліття поспіль (а не лише в 2022 році) Україна та українці демонізуються в російських медіа. Два десятиліття поспіль реалізується пропагандистська кампанія, заснована на дзеркальних звинуваченнях та газлайтингу (наприклад, більше про це можна читати у працях історика Тараса Кузьо). Колективна (без)відповідальність є однією з причин продовження жорстокої реалізації колоніальних амбіцій РФ щодо України, яким вже 300 років.

Що зараз важливо?

Уникати позиціонування української історії через призму російської пропаганди. Наприклад, що українці та росіяни – це братські народи. У нас різна мова, різна історія та різне бачення розвитку. Концепція “братських народів” використовується для виправдання агресії.

З цього органічно випливає інше – продовжувати розвивати навички критичного мислення. Важливо залишатися уважними до інформації, що поширюється: спростовувати фейки, перевіряти факти, протидіяти дезінформації та маніпуляціям.

Від наших партнерів ми очікуємо категоричного осуду російського вторгнення в незалежну державу. Вживання термінів “конфлікт” або “криза” замість “війна/вторгнення”, доки російські війська залишаються на території України, вважаємо підтримкою вторгнення.

“Insha Osvita” works to develop civil society in Ukraine. Invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine undermines the humanistic values upon which our organization stands. Our beacons are openness, mutual support, responsibility (for oneself and others), trust, freedom of expression, equality, beauty, and happiness. Now, they are threatened with destruction.

We have always stood and will stand for building connections and respect towards diversity in various contexts. Altogether, we deem illogical and unacceptable any attempts to reconcile Ukraine with Russia in media and public discourses: at the events, broadcasts, media, and publications. Perpetrator and victim can not be represented on equal conditions and for some time even in the same physical space. There is no possibility for dialogue as long as Ukrainians are threatened. Furthermore, the positions of Ukrainians, who face a threat of being killed, to those of Belarussian and Russian citizens, who are subject to economic and political pressure, are incomparable at the very core. The real victims of the aggression are Ukrainians, and other nationals, who are/were and/or live/were living on the territory of Ukraine at the start of the invasion. Any calls to stop the war addressed to Ukrainians are inconsistent, as Ukraine is not the one who started the war.

We disagree with the thesis that the war in Ukraine is the sole responsibility of Putin’s regime. The polls show 71% of Russians supporting military actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine¹. We admit that not every Russian supports such a policy. Still, none of Russians can abstract from the decisions taken by the Russian government. For two decades in a row (and not only in 2022), Russian media has demonized Ukraine and Ukrainians. For two decades, the propaganda campaign rooted in “mirror accusations” and “gaslighting” has been running (for example, you can read more about it in the works of historian Taras Kuzio). The collective (ir)responsibility is one of the root causes of the violent implementation of the colonial ambitions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. The ambitions are 300 years old.

What is essential right now?

Avoid positioning Ukrainian history through the lenses of Russian propaganda. Namely, that presumption that Russians and Ukrainians are brotherly nations. We have different languages, history, and the vision of development. The concept of “brotherly nations” is used to justify the aggression.

From that fact organically comes the inference: critical thinking is vital. It is crucial to scrutinize the information that is being shared: expose fakes, FactCheck, and counter disinformation and manipulations.

We expect our partners to condemn the Russian invasion of an independent state unambiguously. Until the Russian military remains in Ukraine, any use of the terms “conflict” or “crisis” instead of “war/invasion” we consider as supportive of the invasion.
