Boost_4_Culture: Educational course for cultural and creative industries professionals in Vinnytsia

From October 2023 to July 2024, NGO PLAI implemented the #Boost_4_Culture project. It included educational residencies, networking events, and a course of 10 offline lectures once a month.  

The educational course for cultural and creative industry professionals was developed by the Insha Osvita and proto produkciia team. The aim of the course is to increase the level of professional competences of cultural managers, professionals working in the creative industries sector, as well as independent artists in Vinnytsia.

Topics of lectures within the educational course, which were held from October 2023 to June 2024:

  • Creative industries and their impact;
  • Project management in culture;
  • Operational management and governance;
  • Event management;
  • Communications in projects: Ukrainian and foreign audiences;
  • Organisational development and strategic planning;
  • Budgeting and financial management;
  • Fundraising and its types;
  • Legal aspects: bureaucracy or self-protection?
  • Spaces and their possibilities in Vinnytsia. Revitalisation process and its benefits.

The speakers of the course were experts in the cultural and creative industries: 

  • Kateryna Kravchuk, co-founder of the Lanka.pro agency, facilitator and designer of training programmes/products for the creative economy. 
  • Iryna Prokofieva is a project management, organisational development and international cooperation specialist.
  • Yuliia Alenina is the Chief Operating Officer of the NGO Insha Osvita, coordinator of the educational and humanitarian areas at the proto produkciia agency.
  • Mykola Dorokhov is a co-founder of the Vilna Khata youth space and an event manager at the Urban Space 100 public restaurant.
  • Bohdana Nosenok is a communications manager at the IZOLYATSIA. Platform for Cultural Initiatives.
  • Yevgenia Nesterovych is a cultural manager, editor, critic, writer, director of NGO Post Bellum-Ukraine.
  • Roman Dyma is the operations director of the proto produkciia agency, co-founder of the coffee shop “26 and coffee” and the gallery-coffee shop “yuna”, a member of the Global Shapers Community and a graduate of the international organization AIESEC.
  • Olga Valyanik is the director of the “Angar.Ukraine” BF, which since the beginning of the full-scale invasion has collected more than 100,000,000 UAH to help the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
  • Kostyantyn Zerov is a lawyer who advises clients from various sectors of the economy, representatives of creative industries in the field of copyright and related rights.
  • Maria Smirnova is an architect and an expert in sustainable spatial planning at the Vinnytsia Spatial Development Agency, an expert in the Platform of Action: development of the “SUN Territory” project.

The project also included a visual arts residency in February 2024 to share experiences and establish contacts between local artists. 15 artists worked under the supervision of Ola Poliak, an Insha Osvita member, an artist, curator of the teenage programme at the fra fra fra School of Contemporary Art in Frankivsk and co-founder of the Chernivtsi self-publishing house SVAYA. During the four days of the residency, the participants shared their practices, participated in artist talks and created joint artworks.
