Open call for the international project Remembrance in Dialogue

Open call for the international project Remembrance in Dialogue

Together with Austausch e.V., Fundacja Zapomniane, and the Urban Memory Foundation, we are launching an open call for the project Remembrance in Dialogue. The project will explore the impact of Russian aggression on historical memory and educational work with young people about Nazi crimes in Europe.

Programme

The Remembrance in Dialogue project focuses on preserving the memory of the Holocaust in the context of the war in Ukraine. In the summer and fall of 2025, the program will train participants to work with historical and cultural memory through a series of online and offline events. The program includes a study tour to Ivano-Frankivsk in Ukraine in September 2025.

The programme will run in the summer and fall of 2025 and includes:

  • Online trainings in August, during which participants will be trained as multipliers and discuss how the war in Ukraine has changed the focus, methods, and content of their educational and memorial work.
  • A study tour to Ivano-Frankivsk in September, focusing on the city’s Jewish, Polish, and Ukrainian heritage and local memory of Nazi crimes and the Holocaust, with experts and specialists.
  • Online workshops on memory in November, where experts and animators will share their experience with a wider audience.
  • Joint work on a methodological guide for educators on working with memory and historical education in times of war.

Who can apply

A group of 12 professionals working in the field of formal and non-formal history education in Germany, Poland, and Ukraine will be selected (4 participants from each country). Participants should have professional experience in the field of Holocaust remembrance and memory policy in these countries (e.g., teachers, trainers, political educators, animators, memory activists, museum and memorial staff) and experience in educational work with youth and young adults.
