Projects of VILNO / ВІЛЬНО fellows

Within the VILNO / ВІЛЬНО program, veterans who worked in culture or education prior to their service receive financial, legal, and/or psychological support, and take part in networking activities.

In July, our fellows received microgrants to implement their cultural or educational projects. There are 13 projects in total — and here they are:

  • Mykola Velychko is creating the “Mykola’s Pottery” residency and water routes for veterans. There will be kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding trips along the Sluch River.
  • Serhii Porubai runs a sports tourism section in Dnipro that combines outdoor activities, nature-based competitions, and patriotic education for young people.
  • Yurii Vovkohon will publish “Images of Fish” — an art book in memory of cultural fellow, editor, and translator Yevhen Hulevych, combining his texts with photographs by photographer and veteran Yurii Kalyniak.
  • Serhii Suknenko is launching a promotional campaign for the “Improv 4.5.0 project” — a form of recreational therapy for  veterans based on the principles of applied improvisation, IMPROvision.
  • “Dance Without Limits” is a project by Ihor Kyrylchatenko focused on dance for veterans with disabilities and their partners.
  • In the “DRONICS” project, Viacheslav Lavrinenko will create an educational space for children and teenagers where they can learn to operate UAVs.
  • Velimir Horyslavets will set up the “Transition” sound therapy studio, where participants can work with various instruments — singing bowls, gongs, shamanic drums, didgeridoos, and hang drums.
  • Oleksandr Berezovskyi will create the home studio “Bernard” to launch the music project of the same name.
  • Wilhelm Vitiuk will continue working on his course “Return to Life”, designed for families awaiting the return of loved ones from captivity, as well as for adaptation after their return.
  • Andrii Bobrovytskyi is developing the “KoloMene” project — practical clay-working sessions for veterans.
  • The podcast “Fantasy, Mythology, and War” will be launched by Andrii Kaspshyshak to explore and popularise Ukrainian mythology.
  • Vasyl Safriuk is shooting the short fantasy film “The Light of Shattered Windows” — about loss, the search for new shelter, and inner strength.
  • In Chernivtsi, Inna Tsybulska is creating a children’s room within the “Military Hall” veteran community space — a space for children of veterans’ families, active-duty service members, fallen or missing defenders, as well as children who were forced to leave their homes because of the war.

You can follow updates on these projects on our social media channels.

The VILNO / ВІЛЬНО program is implemented with the support of the Robert Bosch Stiftung.
