«Culture Helps / Культура допомагає»: geography of project grantees

«Culture Helps / Культура допомагає» is a project that we started together with zusa in 2023. It is aimed at helping people who were forced to move to safer regions of Ukraine or abroad due to full-scale war. The project provides grant support to cultural managers, as well as organisations that help people integrate into new communities through culture.

During the year of project implementation, we supported various organisations implementing projects for cultural integration of people in new communities, from almost all regions of Ukraine and many Creative Europe countries. The geography of the project covers cities from Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Dnipro to Lviv, Lutsk and Zakarpattia. And it also extends to Poland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Austria, Ireland, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

  • The project grants programme supports organisations located in Ukraine or Creative Europe countries and working on cultural initiatives to integrate people into new communities through culture. 42 organisations were supported for two project grants competitions: 32 from Ukraine and 10 from other Creative Europe countries.
  • The collaboration grants programme supports tandems of organisations from Ukraine and Creative Europe countries that implement projects to integrate people into new communities through culture. 20 tandems were supported for two collaboration grants competitions: they included 27 organisations from Ukraine and 24 organisations from other Creative Europe countries.

In total, 32 local projects in Ukraine and 34 international projects on the territory of Creative Europe countries for the integration of Ukrainians into new communities through cultural activities. Infographics by regions and countries have been prepared below.

“Culture Helps / Культура допомагає” is a project co-funded by the European Union under a dedicated call for proposals to support Ukrainian displaced people and the Ukrainian Cultural and Creative Sectors. The project is a cooperation between Insha Osvita (UA) and zusa (DE).
